The 60:40 PROJECT has been steadily growing since I became the Youth Outreach Worker on the programme in November 2018. 60% of the project is focused on community outreach, particularly in the area surrounding Kings Acre Methodist Church. 40% of the project is spent working with the Lambeth Methodist Circuit youth. I currently support the Brixton Hill Sunday school and lead on Youth United Worship, a youth meet-up held fortnightly on a Friday evening from 7pm-9pm at Brixton Hill. The young people enjoy playing games such as badminton and table tennis as well as practicing playing instruments. The evenings are rounded off by a bible study. Over the last four months, we have been looking at God’s plan for humanity through four main themes: creation; the fall of man; redemption; re-creation. This has prompted some great questions and helped the young people to see what God says about these big issues through His word.

The young people that regularly attend YUW were gifted with youth bibles at Christmas, as encouragement to them to seek God for themselves through His word.

The next YUW dates are: May 3rd, 17th; June 14th, 28th; July 12th, 26th.

The 60:40 project has also run some holiday clubs during the February half term and Easter holiday. Both holiday clubs have been 1 day of fun and leisure held at Brixton Hill and Kings Acre sites. The next holiday club will be in the May half term, from Tuesday 28th-Thursday 30th May, from 11am-3pm each day, at Kings Acre, 59 Lyham Road, SW2 5DH. I will need help to run this, so if you are available for all, some or one of these days to help, then please do get in touch!

The 60:40 project is currently planning on running a lunchtime club throughout the summer holidays on weeks commencing Monday 29th July, Monday 5th August and Monday 26th August. We understand that the school holidays mean that many parents in Lambeth will struggle to provide a healthy meal for their children. We hope to alleviate some of this pressure by offering a free lunch to all young people in the area around Kings Acre. I will confirm dates very soon!

For all the ways that we are trying to help our young people in Lambeth develop, thrive and discover themselves in God, I sincerely ask for your continued prayers for the 60:40 project. Please pray for the young people that come into contact with the project, and please pray for more people to come forward to offer their support, skills and talents on the program.

In Christ,

Nathaniel Martin:  Youth Outreach Worker 8330 2809
