REV.  ANDREW  DART - SUPERINTENDENT  MINISTER

Our Circuit Superintendent Minister - Rev. Andrew Dart came to the Circuit in September 2012 when the former Brixton Circuit merged with the Streatham Circuit. He was previously Superintendent Minister of the New River Circuit in North London. Prior to that he worked in the Croydon and Romford Circuits.

Rev. Andrew has Pastoral charge of Streatham and Tulse Hill Churches and also shares responsibilities at Railton Road with Rev. Lena Ali.  Rev. Andrew has a great interest in Spirituality, having led many quiet days and retreats. He is a member of the Iona Community.

He is married to Mrs. Barbara Dart and they have two young children - Cara and Mari.

Rev. Andrew is very happy to be back in South London as this was where he was born and grew up.

REV. KRISTIN MARKAY

Rev. Kristin is our Minister-in-Charge of Brixton Hill and Mostyn Road Methodist Churches. She is a member of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church in the United States but currently serving in the British Methodist Church as Recognised and Regarded Minister, R & R as they call them (together with her husband Rev. David, who is appointed at Southwark & Deptford Circuit).

The United Methodist Church sent Rev. Kristin and the whole family (Rev. David, Hannah and Aidan) to Lithuania as Mission partners.  From there, they served as United Methodist Missionaries in Milan, Italy, for seven years (2004 to 2011).  They served a multi-national and multi-cultural Congregation which includes  Italians and immigrants from Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Rev. Kristin's last appointment before coming to join us in the Lambeth Circuit was Barnsley Circuit of the Sheffield Methodist District.

REV.  DR. ANDREW LYONS

Our Minister Rev. Dr. Lyons have Pastoral Oversight for Lambeth Mission & St. Mary's and Vauxhall Mission.  He moved to our Circuit from Croydon Circuit where he was Minister at Parchmore Methodist Church.

Rev. Dr. Lyons was a Local Preacher, a Youth Worker, an Equal Opportunities Officer before he became a full pledged Minister.  He held posts as Youth Worker at Parchmore before  he became a Minister there and  also worked at Downsview Methodist Church, the Sports Council as liaison with Black & Ethnic Minority group.

He did his Theological & Ministerial Training and gained a degree in Practical Theology; did his Master's Degree in Race & Equality at Warwick University and his PhD on Changing Practices in British Methodist Worship in 2010.  His first appointment  was in Bromsgrove Circuit, North Worcestershire before he came to Croydon Circuit and now to Lambeth Circuit.

The Rev. Dr. Lyons will be moving to Lambeth followed by his son this September.

REV.  LENA  ALI

Rev. Lena is our Minister in-charge of Railton Road Methodist Church for the past five years now.  She is a non-stipendary Minister who lives in North London but commutes to Lambeth Circuit.  Prior to joining this Circuit, Rev. Lena was stationed in the New River Circuit for seven years.  Rev. Lena is a trained RGN (Regeistered General Nurse), RMN (Registerd Mental Nurse) and SCM (State Certified Midwife) before she was called to the Ministry.  Rev. Lena worked as a Senior Nurse Manager at a Psychiatric Hospital.  She also did her MBA (Master in Business Administration) and MA in Theology & Pastoral Theology.

She is passionate about helping those who are underprivileged and works as a volunteer on the Management Committee of a Housing Association which is responsible for housing single homeless people.  Rev. Lena is still actively involved in the welfare of homeless orphans and street children in Mumbai. 

Rev. Lena  has been married to Mr. Kashaf Ali for the past 45 years.

SUPERNUMERARIES:                                                                                                                      Rev. Gordon Ashworth                                   

Rev. GordonAshwowth  trained for the Ministry at Wesley College, Headingley &  Wesley College, Bristol. He served in the Lambeth Mission Circuit, Railton Road and Kingsacre Methodist Churches and Battersea Central Mission before joining HM Prison Service as a full-time Prison Chaplain. He was a Chaplain at three prisons on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent before transferring to HMP Whitemoor High Security Prison in Cambridgeshire. His last appointment was as Chaplain at HMP Wandsworth. He became a Supernumerary Minister in 2008 joining what is now the Lambeth Circuit.

Rev. Graham Thomas  

Rev Graham Thomas was born and brought up in the Rhondda Valley (South Wales) and trained for the Ministry at Handsworth College, Birmingham and was ordained in 1959.  He is a graduate of Lancaster University and a post graduate of South Bank and Greenwich Universities.

He has served in the following Circuits: Neath, St Just-in-Penwith, Bradford (Shipley), West Bromwich, Wellington (Shropshire), Abertillery, Lancaster and Wimbledon.  He has served as part-time posts in hospital, industrial and HM Prison as Chaplain.  He was a Samaritan Volunteer for five years and has been an active Rotarian since 1986.  

He left from the Ministry after serving for thirty-seven years.  He then returned as a Supernumerary at the age of 70, at Wesley’s Chapel & Leysian Mission (City Road Circuit).  He later transferred to the Streatham & Dulwich Circuit, which after merging with Brixton became the Brixton & Streatham Circuit and is now the Lambeth Circuit.  

In his 80’s he continues to enjoy conducting Services where he is needed - he says ‘whether the congregations share his enjoyment is another matter!
